Bedside table 2

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I live in Marlborough with my husband, our daughter Isabella, son Louie, and our black Labrador Hank. Life is a chaotically, beautiful and rewarding rollercoaster of all the things that life brings. With age, I’m trying to find pleasure in the little simple things that bring joy every day, such as being present with my children, admiring pieces that evoke happy and fond memories, or simply just appreciating the sunset over the glorious Richmond Ranges, that I can see from my kitchen window.

On my bedside table you will find…

The photo of my husband and I from our wedding day back in 2011 brings back so many happy memories, of the most incredible day dancing and eating with family and friends! My Mum gave me the ornate frame many years ago now, and I just adore it.

I have a bedside light for reading before sleep. It’s part of my evening sleeping ritual I love to read and will often read until I fall asleep…

The pottery bowl I made at a ceramic workshop run by a friend here in Marlborough. There’s something wonderful about admiring an item you have crafted with your own hands. In it is pilgrim earrings I bought for myself for turning forty! The necklace is a Zoe Porter original gifted to me by my sister the night before her wedding. It contains a diamond from my late nana’s ring. My sister also has the same necklace so it’s a forever keepsake. The moon ring is from Trade Aid – one of my favourite places to buy jewellery.

Eye mask and ear plugs – self-explanatory but they help me to sleep really, really well (when my son doesn’t wake me up!)

Garmin watch – I only take this watch off to sleep. I run/hike regularly so I love tracking adventures with it! It’s also my time keeper as I don’t have a phone or alarm near my bed while sleeping.

Books to read in bed. Always a novel of some sort - Nicky Pellegrino is a favourite as it takes me back to living in Italy, and all the amazing food and people - and a home/design book or magazine to peruse for inspiration.

The dream catcher – I have a thing about them. There is one is every bedroom of the house.

The photo of my parents is prior to my Mum’s ruptured brain aneurysm and life in a wheelchair. A picture I will treasure forever.
