Chocolate Anzac Slice

INGREDIENTS

250g butter

½ cup golden syrup

½ cup dark chocolate melts

1 teaspoon baking soda

2 cups brown sugar

2 cups of flour

1 cup desiccated coconut

1 cup coconut thread

1 cup whole oats

1 cup rolled oats

METHOD

Preheat oven to 180°C.

In a large saucepan melt butter and golden syrup. While it's melting, place dark chocolate melts in the freezer and leave to stand. Remove the butter mixture from the heat.

Add baking soda and mix well, then add brown sugar and mix really well.

Add remaining ingredients. Mix well and check consistency. You don't want it to be too wet, you want it to be slightly crumbly and not holding together perfectly.

Leave to cool completely before adding the chocolate melts, otherwise they will melt into the mixture and disappear.

Press into a lined slice pan and bake until golden brown, for approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
